The station first began their broadcasting activities as KTAN on AM frequency 1500 in
1947 airing a combinedEntertainment and classical format. More than 10 years later, the callsign has changed to KTXO and changed their formats to Country and Western. It was one of the first stations in Texas to change to such a format. KTXO has enjoyed the loyal following for 3 decades until the station was sold to "Bobbin'" Bob Allen where he renamed it KJIM and changed it to a variety format playing top-ranked songs from 1958-1970.The station also provides extensive local news of the Grayson County area of Texoma.References
