- HMS Assistance (1650)
HMS "Assistance" was a 40-gun
fourth rate sclass|Elizabeth|frigate|0 frigate of theRoyal Navy , originally built for the navy of theCommonwealth of England atDeptford , and launched in 1650. By 1677 her armament had been increased to 48 guns.In 1687 "Assistance" was rebuilt at Deptford as a 48-gun fourth rate
ship of the line . She was rebuilt for a second time at Deptford in 1699, relaunching as a fourth rate of between 46 and 54 guns. Her third rebuild was carried out atLimehouse , from where she was relaunched on16 February 1713 as a 50-gun fourth rate to the1706 Establishment . On21 March 1720 she was ordered to be taken to pieces atWoolwich for what was to be her final rebuild. She relaunched as a 50-gun fourth rate to the1719 Establishment on25 November 1725 ."Assistance" was sunk as a breakwater in 1745.
