Susumu Katsumata

was an award winning Japanese mangaka. He was born in Miyagi Prefecture and died in Ōta, Tokyo at the age of 63 of melanoma on December 3, 2007. He is survived by at least one son, Daichi.

He graduated from Tokyo University of Education with a degree in physics. He also studied nuclear physics at its post-graduate school.
