A mathematical journal is a
scientific journal which publishes exclusively (or almost exclusively) mathematical papers. A practical definition of the current state ofmathematics , as a research field, is that it consists oftheorem s with proofs published in a reputable mathematical journal, and which usually have passed through the process ofpeer review calledrefereeing . In some exceptional cases, the statement of aconjecture , or the introduction of some new method ordefinition might assume relevance.
