Its seat is the town of Różan, which lies approximately convert|20|km|mi|0 east of Maków Mazowiecki and convert|79|km|mi|0|abbr=on north of Warsaw.

The gmina covers an area of convert|84.1|km2|sqmi|1, and as of 2006 its total population is 4,423 (out of which the population of Różan amounts to 2,661, and the population of the rural part of the gmina is 1,762).
