Ali Shama (also known as Eon) is a
Bronx , USA-born artist of Arabian-Brazilian descent who has worked to create a vision of art that he could call his own. Since his days as a young graffiti artist, he has developed his skills in the broader tools of the trade, without losing sight of what compelled him to pick up spray painting. It is the fusion of graffiti with his love for such masters asPicasso ,Braque , andJuan Gris that defines Ali Shama’s unique style of “Hip-Hop Cubism.”Ali Shama has a Masters of Fine Arts degree from CUNY-Lehman College and previously studied art education at
C.W. Post College /Long Island University . He taught art at his alma mater,Lehman High School in the Bronx for seven years. Later, he partnered up with graffiti artist, SEEN, to further explore graffiti and its application. Ali Shama has traveled throughout Europe and the Middle East.Recently, Ali Shama was featured in the [http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/bronx/2007/12/23/2007-12-23_how_former_tagger_helped_make_kennedy_hi.html NY Daily News] for his work as an Assistant Principal at John F. Kennedy H.S. in the Bronx. On October 14, 2008, Shama took over a principal of Francis Lewis High School in Queens, NY.
