The Hook of Holland ( it had an estimated population of 9,400.

Hoek van Holland is connected to Rotterdam by the Hoek van Holland Strand-Rotterdam Centraal railway service via Maassluis, Vlaardingen and Schiedam. The station Hoek van Holland Strand is located closest to the beach; the other station, Hoek van Holland Haven, is located next to the Stena Line terminal. Stena Line operates a daily ferry service to Harwich, England. The passenger boats currently in operation are the Stena Hollandica and the Stena Britannica.

Nearby towns include Monster, 's-Gravenzande and Naaldwijk to the northeast and Maassluis to the southeast. On the other side of the river is the Europoort and the Maasvlakte.

The seaside beach has sandy dunes and a pier. One section of it is designated for use by naturists.
