Don Francisco de Paula y Marin (November 28, 1774 - October 30, 1837) was a confidant of Hawaiian King Kamehameha. Marin, known as "Manini", was a jack of all trades, sometimes acting as a physician. As a botanist, Marin was notable for his planting of fruits and vegetables and for establishing the first vineyard in Hawaii. [cite web
