History
School terms
There are three school terms in the year, collectively known as "Terms"
* The "First Term", from early April to mid June. New students are generally admitted at the start of the First Term, unless there are exceptional mitigating factors.
* The "Second Term", from late August to early December.
* The "Third Term", from early January to mid March.House structure
The school has four houses viz Red, Yellow, Green and Blue.
School uniform
Boys: Navy blue pants, white shirt, Tie, Navy blue socks and black shoes.
Girls: Navy blue pinafore, white shirt, tie, navy blue socks and black shoes. Older girls wear a blue/white salwar-kameez.
Tutors and teaching
The school has a good teaching staff. However, most of the senior staff prefer to teach private tuitions at exorbitant prices. The children of the school management have been known to be assigned the best rated/reviewed teachers. Very few teachers actually captivate the minds of the students. The majority of them seem to be concerned with their pay-checks only. Moreover the teachers are known for their partiality to Keralites. the school being pre-dominantly Malayali, All Keralite students are treated with respect and if necessary given better marks and grades than Non-Keralites. This prejudice towards Malayalis has led to many students leaving the school after Class 10. Also some male teachers have been known to make monetary requests to students. In the past, a chemistry teacher Mr. Habeeb had asked of nearly five students each Qr. 2000/-
School prefects
In addition to the masters, the following categories of senior boys&girls are entitled to exercise school discipline. Boys&girls who belong to any of these categories, in addition to a limited number of other boy office holders, are entitled to wear badges .
Sport
Sport is a major feature of life at MES.
Music & Drama
The school has a poor and unorganised drama and music club.
School magazines
"The Clarion" is the official school magazine, and is also the longest running school publication. It is edited by a committee comprising students and teachers at the school and has a tradition of being fairly scrutinised and subject to severe censorship. Satirising or student opinions are not generally encouraged. While "" is published once a Half and covers all sport and cultural events other notworthy events as well.
