updated= January 1, 2008Pappa Fourway (foaled 1952) was a successful racehorse. He was one of two notable British sprinters trained in the 1950s by Bill Dutton – the other was
Right Boy . The former's performances were all the more meritorious, because so little had been expected of him as a yearling that he had changed hands at that stage for less than £200. Pappa Fourway won four times from seven starts as a two-year-old, but his brilliance really came to the fore in his second season when he was unbeaten in eight attempts, starting in May and going on to November. His biggest successes came in theJuly Cup , theKing's Stand Stakes ,Diadem Stakes and the Gosforth Park Cup. He carried 9st 7lb (133 pounds) in the handicaps which he won. Pappa Fourway had won 12 races worth £9,889 when he was exported to theUnited States in 1956.References
