July Cup

__NOTOC__The July Cup is a Group 1 flat horse race in the United Kingdom open to thoroughbreds which are three-years-old or above. It is run over a distance of 6 furlongs (1,207 metres) on the July Course at Newmarket Racecourse, and it takes place annually in early July.

First run in 1876, the race is presently one of the top sprint races in Europe. In 2008 it became part of the Global Sprint Challenge series as the fourth of eight legs, preceded by the Golden Jubilee Stakes and followed by the Centaur Stakes.
