Leonard Joe Gustafson (born
November 10 1933 ) is a Canadian Senator and formerMember of Parliament .Born in
Toronto, Ontario , Gustafson was afarmer , contractor and businessman, before he was elected to theCanadian House of Commons in the 1979 general election as the Progressive ConservativeMember of Parliament for Assiniboia,Saskatchewan .He was subsequently re-elected in the 1980, 1984 and 1988 elections. Gustafson served as
parliamentary secretary to Prime MinisterBrian Mulroney from 1984 until shortly before Mulroney left office. In May 1993, shortly before his retirement, Mulroney appointed Gustafson to theCanadian Senate , where he has sat as a Progressive Conservative and, since February 2004, as a supporter of theConservative Party of Canada .External links
