"Soul Food Taqueria" is a studio album by Quannum Projects member and former professional skateboarder Tommy Guerrero, released April 8, 2003 on Mo' Wax Records. "Soul Food Taqueria" was also viewed as a progression by Guerrero in comparison to his previous album, "Little Bit of Somethin"'. Overview

"Inspired by the streets of his hometown San Francisco, "Soul Food Taqueria" is a progression in many ways. Not only is it more sonically advanced than his previous releases (although he admits that he's “still down with the f*cked up 4 trk action”), but it also shows real maturity in his guitar playing and song writing. Vocals are much more prevalent than in previous recordings, with vocal tracks from Lyrics Born of Blackalicious / Quannum / Latyrx fame, and long time friend and collaborator, Gresham Taylor. Critical reception

The album was met with some mixed reviews following its release. Bryan Carroll of Allmusic.com criticized Guerrero for the emphasis on instrumentals present on "Soul Food" and went on to write that "....on the whole Soul Food Taqueria fails to stick to the ribs because it simply lacks the proper spice." Some critics praised Guerrero's downtempo style, such as Carmen Johnson of Prefix magazine.
