- Dusted Magazine
Dusted Magazine is an online
music magazinewhich was founded by Otis Hart and Sam Hunt in January 2002. The magazine's commercial-free website averages about 5,000 unique visitors per day, and 2 million hits per month.
Dusted collects playlists from about four dozen college radio stations which extensively feature
avant gardeand experimental musicas well as indie music, and has has been featured in — or cited by — several notable publications. These include the " Chicago Reader", the " New York Times", the " East Bay Express", the " Los Angeles Times", among others.
Bands which have been interviewed by the publication include
Monolake, Low, and The Posies.
Hart was a college
music directorand Hunt handled promotions for a college radio station when they discovered that aside from "The Wire", there was almost no media outlet for avant gardeor experimental music. Most of the publications geared towards the college radio community focused primarily on traditional indie rock and pop favorites, while neglecting adventurous music. Dusted was created to help fill that void.
