Its seat is the town of Zbąszynek, which lies approximately convert|20|km|mi|0 east of Świebodzin, convert|41|km|mi|0|abbr=on north-east of Zielona Góra, and convert|66|km|mi|0|abbr=on south-east of Gorzów Wielkopolski.
