Katherine Schipper

Katherine Schipper is an American accounting researcher and educator.

Currently a professor of accounting at Duke University, [http://www.fuqua.duke.edu/faculty/alpha/schipper.htm] she has also been a professor at University of Chicago and Carnegie-Mellon University. She is a past president of the American Accounting Association.

For many years, she was editor of the "Journal of Accounting Research".

She received the Outstanding Accounting Educator Award of the American Accounting Association in 1999. [http://aaahq.org/newsarc/schipper.htm]

She began a five year term as a member of the Financial Accounting Standards Board in 2001, [http://www.fasb.org/news/nr_schipper.shtml] and completed that in 2006. [http://www.fasb.org/news/nr012006.shtml]

In 2007, Schipper was named to the Accounting Hall of Fame, which has only inducted 81 persons since it was initiated. [Accounting Hall of Fame] She is the first woman to be inducted.
