- Tatsuya Ishida
Tatsuya Ishida is the author of the
webcomic "Sinfest ". He was also apenciller forDark Horse Comics , where he worked oncomic book s of the licensed properties G.I. Joe and Godzilla.Other than what can be learned through his work, very little is known about him. He remains an enigmatic personality who makes no regular commentary other than the "Notes from the Resistance" feature on the front page of the "Sinfest" website, which can sometimes cryptically reference real life events. Appearances by him on the internet are otherwise very rare, and brief.
However, Tatsuya responded to the 2008 U.S. presidential election in uncharacteristic fashion, running strips that were clearly parodies of the Republican candidates
John McCain andSarah Palin .Barack Obama was also depicted. He has been increasingly featured in his own strip, as the body of Pooch and Percival's Master.
In the 1990s he co-created and penciled a comic called "StrangeLove" for
Entity Comics with partner Stacy Freeman.Trivia
In the Godzilla series comic "Godzilla Versus Hero Zero" which takes place in San Diego during the San Diego Comic Con, Slick, a main character from "Sinfest", can be seen at the con as both a balloon and a sketch on the wall with his name above it. The comic was published in 1995, 5 years before the beginning of the "Sinfest" webcomic.Fact|date=February 2007
"Sinfest" began as a newspaper comic strip for the
Daily Bruin during the years when Tatsuya Ishida attendedUCLA in the early 1990s. Though the characters back then represented various college cliques, many are easily recognizable as the finalized characters in the "Sinfest" webcomic, including Slick, Seymour (represented vocal Christian groups at the Bruin Walk), Squigley (a much viler fraternity boy stereotype), and God, who were present (if not named) as early as 1992.Fact|date=December 2007External links
