"Tippin' the Scales" is a live album recorded at the Daily Express Olympia "Lifestyles 2000" Exhibition, London on 12th June 1989. The ad hoc line-up, Perfect Pitch, comprised frontliners Dick Morrissey on tenor sax, Peter King on alto sax and Jim Mullen on guitar, with a rhythm section made up of Brian Dee on piano, Mario Castronari on double bass and Bobby Worth on drums. The opening track, Phineas Newborn's "Down Home" is a tribute to the great pianist who had died the previous month. Track 2 is in reference to Miles Davis' 1960 recordings at Olympia.
