Lorraine Althea Constance Monk is a Canadian photographer.
Born in
Montreal ,Quebec , the daughter of Edwin and Eileen Marion Spurrell, she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1944 and a Master of Arts degree in 1946 fromMcGill University .cite book|title=Canadian Who's Who|year=2004|publisher=University of Toronto Press |editor=Elizabeth Lumley]From 1960 to 1980, she was the Executive Producer of the Still Photography Division at the
National Film Board of Canada . In 1985, she help establish the Canada Museum of Photography and was its executive director.Her daughter
Karyn Monk is a novelist. She resides inToronto, Ontario .Honours
In 1973, she was made a Member of the
Order of Canada "for the standard of excellence she has set in the publication and exhibition of photography and for the support she has given to young photographers".
