Its seat is the village of Lubiewo, which lies approximately convert|19|km|mi|0 south-east of Tuchola and convert|39|km|mi|0|abbr=on north of Bydgoszcz.

The gmina covers an area of convert|162.8|km2|sqmi|1, and as of 2006 its total population is 5,717.

The gmina contains part of the protected area called Tuchola Landscape Park.
