Ashley Martin

Ashley Martin is an American woman who became the first female to play and score in an NCAA football game, and also the first woman to play and score in a Division I football game. She accomplished this feat at Jacksonville State University on August 30, 2001. Ashley kicked three extra points in the Gamecocks 72-10 victory over Cumberland University. Two other women, Liz Heaston and Katie Hnida, have scored in college football. Liz Heaston had previously kicked two extra points for NAIA Willamette University on October 18, 1997. A book written by Katie Hnida claims the title of being the first woman to score for a Division I football team. However, Martin did achieve this feat exactly two years before Hnida did.
