- MET Punjab
Management Entrance Test or MET is the entrance exam for MBA colleges in Punjab, India. It is the exam for admission to MBA courses in the departments, Institutions and Colleges affiliated to
Guru Nanak Dev University , Amritsar;Punjabi University , Patiala andPunjab Technical University , Jalandhar.The Test is normally held in Mid-June of each year at around 7 centres in Punjab.
85 percent seats will be reserved for the residents of Punjab State and 15 percent seats will be open to candidates outside the State.
The paper has the following 4 sections with equal weightages. Time allowed is 45 minutes for each section with 50 questions per section and 50 marks per question.
1. General English:: This paper will have questions from
English language and its usage such as choosing correct spellings, completion of sentences with suitable prepositions/articles, word meaning, one word substitution, synonym, antonym, meaning of idioms and phrases, choosing correcting grammatical errors in a part of given sentence, filling the blanks with correct form of verb, adjectives, adverbs, etc.2. Mental and Numerical Ability:: This paper will have the topics of
logical reasoning , graphical analysis, analytical reasoning, quantitative comparisons, series formation, arithmetic calculations such as profit and loss, interest, ratio proportion, averages, etc.3. General Knowledge:: This paper will cover the general awareness about international, national and regional events,
current affairs related to science & technology, ecology, politics and sports, important personalities, books, historical, political and geographical facts.4. Business Aptitude:: Business aptitude questions will be simple and based on the business environment in the country. Questions will also be asked on personalities in the area of business, brands/companies/product association, abbreviations related to business, etc. But these questions will not be based on any specialized knowledge of the subject.

More than 7,800 candidates appeared for the management entrance test (MET-2007) to the two-year course of master in business administration (MBA) and MCA common aptitude test-2007 (PAM-CAT-2007) for the three-year course of master in computer application (MCA) conducted by Guru Nanak Dev University in 2007. With each year the number of students giving MET is increasing leading to more and more competition which students are facing.
