TVNorge

television channel.

TVNorge went on the air December 5 1988 and was the first advertising-supported Norwegian channel. Originally TVNorge broadcast via satellite and cable, later they have affiliated several local television broadcasters, who in addition to some local programming also broadcast TVNorge's programs.

TVNorge is wholly owned by ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG.

In 2003 Novell sued TVNorge at The Court of Enforcement (Namsretten) and asked for a temporary injunction against TVNorge as they found the logo too similar to their own. Novell did not seem to proceed to a full court case after losing their case there.

TVNorge refers to itself as TVNORGE.

High Definition

TVNorge plans to launch a High Definition simulcast of their main channel October 3, 2008. [cite web|url=http://dinside.no/php/art.php?id=783884|title=Norges første HD kanal] First shown will be the HBO series Rome, and the channel will include several other imported series like and The Big Bang Theory.
