- Sheffield Parkway
The Sheffield Parkway is a major
dual carriageway in the City of Sheffield,England . The 5.5 mile road was opened in1974 , and runs to the east of the City, connecting Park Square in the City centre with the inner ring road, outer ring road and out to theM1 motorway at junction 33. On this route it passes the districts ofWybourn ,Darnall , Handsworth, and the village ofCatcliffe , at which a slip road connects toSheffield City Airport , Sheffield Business Park and theAdvanced Manufacturing Park (AMP) . Many businesses and Sheffield attractions are located close to the Parkway as it is known in Sheffield, and it can become highly congested. For approximately 2.5 miles of its route the road forms a part of theA57 road , the rest being part of theA630 road .On 27th September 2007 at around 3pm, an unexploded
World War Two bomb was found whilst roadworks were taking place on the road. The road was closed in both directions around the Handsworth and Manor junctions, causing major traffic problems around the area, especially during rush hour.Junctions
