Bolshakovo transmitter

Bolshakovo transmitter is the most powerful mediumwave broadcasting station for mediumwave in the world, situated near Bolshakovo, Russia. It is used by Voice of Russia for broadcasting on the mediumwave frequencies 1116 kHz and 1386 kHz with a maximum transmission power of 2.5 Megawatts. Therefore 16 guyed masts, equipped with special cage antennas, such called ARRT-antennas are installed. The used masts are 257 metres tall and were built in 1974.

As of May 2008, it seems that the use of both mentioned frequencies have ceased, and the Bolshakovo Tx is probably no longer in use.
