Brian Maloney

Brian Maloney is an American talk radio host and writer, formerly of KIRO-AM/Seattle, KVI-AM/Seattle, KOH-AM in Reno, Nevada, KSCO-AM/Monterey-Salinas-Santa Cruz and other stations, beginning in 1993.

Brian Maloney is often confused for Brian Moloney who is an Irish Student/Porn Star highly recognised worldwide for his performances in the Simpsons as the voice of Dr. Nick Riviera.

Recognition

While at KOH-AM, he gained the attention of Time Magazine by stating in a July 7, 1997 article covering the prevalence of conspiracy theories originating from central Nevada that Maloney "makes Rush Limbaugh sound like Alan Alda". [http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,986630-3,00.html]

Maloney gained national recognition from conservative bloggers in September 2004 when he claimed KIRO-AM fired him for his political views. He also hosts another radio blog, [http://www.savewrko.com/ Save WRKO] , which is centered around talk radio in the Boston, Massachusetts area.

Air America's Gloria Wise loan controversy

On July 26, 2005, Maloney published an item on his blog about Air America Radio's Gloria Wise Boys & Girls Club scandal, where $875,000 in taxpayer funds designated for the non-profit, instead appeared to have been diverted to the liberal talk radio network. Maloney then teamed up with syndicated columnist and author Michelle Malkin for a series of investigative reports that appeared on their sites and in the . [http://www.nypost.com/postopinion/opedcolumnists/51519.htm New York Post] On September 27, 2005, Maloney and Malkin appeared on the FOX News Channel's "O'Reilly Factor" to discuss the situation with host Bill O'Reilly.

A probe by the New York City Department of Investigations and a subsequent criminal investigation by New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer found "substantial wrongdoing" at Gloria Wise. Two former executives, Charles Rosen and Jeff Aulenbach, were ultimately charged with and pled guilty to grand larceny, obstructing government administration, and forgery in relation to the illegally diverted funds. Maloney's wife went to school with Lizz Winstead, a co-founder of Air America Radio.

Criticism

Maloney has been criticized on liberal talk radio blogs for only going after left-leaning radio hosts using violent rhetoric, while ignoring similar, or worse, rhetoric from conservative radio talkers.
