- Kai Brodersen
Kai Brodersen (born 1958) is a contemporary ancient
historian andclassicist on the faculty of theUniversity of Erfurt . He has edited, and translated, both ancient works and modern classical studies. His research focuses on Greek and Romanhistoriography andgeography , on ancient inscriptions, oracles and wonder-texts, and on the social and economic history as well as reception studies (incl.Asterix ).Kai Brodersen read Ancient History, Classics and (protestant) Theology, funded by the "Stiftung
Maximilianeum " and the "Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes" inErlangen (Germany),Munich (Germany), andOxford (UK). From Munich, he holds a Dr. phil. (1986) and a Dr. phil. habil. (1995). He is married and has 4 children. In 1996/7 he was made Chair of Ancient History at the University of Mannheim (Germany), which he then served more than 10 years in a leading position (Dean, Dean of Studies and Dean of Finance, followed by 6 years as Vice-President). From 2008/9 he is to be Professor of Ancient Culture at the University of Erfurt. He was a Visiting Fellow at several British universities: Newcastle (2000/01), St. Andrews (2001/02), Royal Holloway, University of London (2006/7), and Visiting Senior Research Fellow atSt John's College, Oxford (2007/8). He is president of theUniversity of Erfurt .Publications
