The Buzz (Irish radio show)

The Buzz (Irish radio show)

The Buzz is a live radio programme which airs every Friday at 3:00pm on community Radio station "94.3 Digital Hub FM". [Digital Hub Fm goes live on Fridays] . It is notably the stations best known and most listened to programme. It is presented by Stephen Fagan and Karl Seale.

The Crew

* Stephen Fagan (Show host/Producer/Researcher/Technician)
* Karl Seale (Show host/Researcher/Music Director)
* Emma Carroll (Occasional Co-Host/Friend of the show/Breakfast show Presenter)tommy coombes- complete ar**hole who thinks he knows everything

Format

The Buzz's style of delivery juxtaposes fast speech with long pauses. Their humour relies mainly upon observational material, such as events that may have happened in one of the presenters lives recently.

A long running gag is that they play edited soundbites of past clips from Radiowatch in the intro to a song (E.G. Shane Byrne once said "I've a Dog" in a humorous, but sincere manner. So the lads play it often in the show to poke fun at shane).

Music

Music played on the show varies but is generally Rock and Pop music and has been known to change to Blues, Dance, Oldies, Etc... The hosts often take requests from listeners by way of text.

Yesterday's News

This is where the team do a news bulletin, but with news that occurred years ago in the style of a normal news bulletin.

Radio Watch

This feature is where Steve Picks out and plays clips of different shows on the station and talks about them, often out of context of what it's actually about. The idea of this feature is to poke fun at the other DJs Presenting skills. He often points out the ongoing relationship between the two Morning show presenters, Tommy Coombes and Shane Byrne, and the Alcoholism of Declan Arthur.

Celebrity Interview (Past)

This was the part of the show where the hosts had a chat to a well known Celebrity be it on the phone or in-studio. The interviews are entirely composed of soundboards from a website that provides such material. [http://www.ebaumsworld.com] [www.ebaumsworld.com] Recent guests include Dr Phil, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Michael Jackson, Jack Nicholson... Etc... This feature has been of air since the end of April 2008.

Jokes and laughs

The Guys are always trying to make one another laugh by telling jokes that sometimes are good and sometimes are bad. The jokes are generally clean and without bad language but sometimes the guys have a joke that has to be told. This has stirred complaints and demands that the show be broadcast later in the day (See Controversy).

The Big Link

The Big Link is where Karl would link a Random fact or word to a Song using cleverly written facts to connect the fact to the name of the title.

New Show

The Buzz will be coming back to a different Community station soon under the new name "The Mix"

Controversy

The show has often brought up controversial issues directly or sometimes indirectly during other light hearted issues. Often there is bad language unsuitable for this time of the day, so this has fuelled complaints by fans of the show that the should be aired at a later time slot. This matter is now pending.

Another controversy is the constant talk about the FAI League of Ireland with some listeners stating that as soon as they (Karl) starts talking about it, they switch off the radio. The matter has been sorted out.
