Digital Links is a social enterprise and a registered charity working since 2002 to limit strain on the environment and bridge the digital divide. They collect redundant computers from companies, schools and other organisations in the UK, and refurbish them for reuse. The organisation was set up five years ago in response to two things: the huge need for affordable technology in the developing world, and the enormous amount of discarded and wasted computers in the UK. They have now collected computers from over 500 UK companies and delivered over 50, 000 computers for 1.5 million users in schools, hospitals, and other institutions.
Policy
Digital Links believe it is essential to support redistributed computers, and so work with partner organisations in the developing world to ensure computers are fully supported with software, training and maintenance.

Digital Links computers have been sent to hospitals and health centres in Moldova (Europe’s poorest country), schools and NGO’s in Kenya, Science-teaching projects in Uganda, and HIV-awareness centres in Tanzania.
Technology
Digital Links embrace new and improved technologies such as solar and thin client technology, to provide the most appropriate solution to each situation.
