Barodiya

Barodiya

Barodiya is a village in Banswara district on route to the Bombay - Ahmedabad highway in Rajasthan, India.

This village has about 100 homes of Brahmins, Kumbhars, Patel and Baniyas. Baniyas fall in the majority. In fact there is a big Laxmi Narayan temple & Jain temple in the centre of the village, both temples are studded with diamonds and gold & laxminarayan murti is just miracle. Brahmins and Patel are the educated class of the village. In fact they have a saying that any stone thrown would fall on a teacher's home because 60% of the educated are teachers in this village. This village also is surrounded by a canal. This canal really helps in irrigation but is also a major source of deaths including suicides. But apart from that this village holds a number of good things like nadni mata temple etc.

This village is surrounded by a canal which originally was supposed to go from the outskirts of the village but due to some reasons it has been constructed as such that it goes right from in between the village. Washing clothes, bathing and feeding water to cattle is a common thing at this canal. The number of deaths since its construction has also been on the rise due to drowning, suicides and sudden release of water in the canal. The canal provides good irrigation water and thus increasing the number of crops. But at the same time fields near the canal have become damp and moist and are always filled with water, thereby making them useless for crops.
