History

The SHPE student chapter at ASU was founded in 1982 by five Hispanic students who had an interest in belonging to a Hispanic organization. Said students attended a SHPE conference in Los Angeles and this motivated the students to organize a SHPE Student Chapter in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. These students then recruited other Hispanic students to participate and created their own ASU chapter that year. [http://shpedeasu.net/history Chapter History]
