Marc Saverys

Marc Saverys (born 1954) is a Belgian businessman.

Education

He graduated as a lawyer from the University of Ghent in 1976.

Career

In 1975, he joinded Bocimar, the bulk freight department of the Compagnie Maritime Belge (CMB) group. In 1985, he left Bocimar for Exmar, at that time a diversified shipment company, where became president and was responsible for the dry bulk freight department. He is president of Exmar and of several companies which fall under the Euronav and CMB-group.

Since the foundation of Euronav plc in 2003, Marc Saverys has been the President of the board of directors and he has been also president of CMB and board member of Sibelco. With an estimated fortune of 756 million Euro, he is one of the wealthiest people of Belgium.
