- Andre Markgraaff
Andries Thomas Markgraaff better known as Andre was strongly tipped as a future Springbok captain in the early 1980s but due to a lack of international competition he was denied. He was on the bench for the Springboks vs Cavaliers 1986 test. Also represented the then South West Africa in 20 games.
In 1988 he became coach of Griqualand West. He became president of Griquas in 1991.
1996 saw him become the Springbok coach until 1997 when he quit due to racial comments he made. During his short reign the Springboks won 8 and lost 5 test. He also sacked World Cup winning captain
Francois Pienaar during the middle of 1996.In 1998 he took Griqualand West to the semi's of the Currie Cup.
