He exchanged envoys with the emperor of China and sent him horses and local products as presents. Once he sent a giraffe to the Chinese emperor with a letter written on a golden leaf. The animal, unknown in China, aroused great curiosity amongst the people. [Majumdar, R.C. (ed.) (2006). "The Delhi Sultanate", Mumbai: Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, p.204] . Raja Ganesha, the landlord of Dinajpur in north-west Bengal, attacked and slew Bayazid Shah and ascended to the throne of Bengal in 1414. After Ganesha usurped the throne Bayazid Shah's son Firuz Shah might have fled from the capital and tried to establish his authority over southern and eastern Bengal.
