The Produce Marketing Association (PMA) is a global trade association whose 2200 members represent the full supply chain of the produce and mass-market floral industry, from seed producer to supermarket or foodservice outlet. It was founded in 1949. Bruce Taylor of Taylor Farms in Salinas, CA is the current chairman of the board of directors. The staff President and CEO is Bryan Silbermann, CAE. PMA sponsors an annual convention and exposition called Fresh Summit. The 2008 event will be held in Orlando, FL on October 24-27.
An affiliate of the PMA, the International Federation for Produce Standards, developed the current numbering system of Price Look-Up codes used to identify produce at the retail level [ [http://www.plucodes.com/ IFPS website. Accessed July 17, 2008] ] .
Another affiliate, the [http://www.pmaef.com Produce Marketing Association Education Foundation] , provides programs to attract and retain employees to the produce industry.
