Endaural phenomena are
sound s that are heard without any external acoustic stimulation. Endaural means "in theear ". Phenomena include transientringing in the ears (that sound likesine tones ),white noise -like sounds, and subjectivetinnitis . Endaural phenomena need to be distinguished fromotoacoustic emission s, in which a person's ear emits sounds. The emitter typically cannot hear the sounds made by his or her ear. Endaural phenomena also need to be distinguished from auditoryhallucination s, which are associated withpsychosis .See also
