Bas Haring

Sebastiaan (Bas) Haring (born April 23, 1968 in De Bilt) is a Dutch philosopher and writer of popular science and children's literature. He holds the Chair for the Public Understanding of Science at the University of Leiden. Furthermore, he acts as a television presenter for the public broadcasting association RVU.

Haring first came to prominence with his 2001 children's book "Cheese and the Theory of Evolution" in which he explained evolution and it's implications. The book received several awards and has been translated into nine different languages. Currently, He is working as a full-time Professor at LIACS in the University of Leiden.
