- Wasp T12
The Wasp T12 Speechtool (Wasp being an
acronym for 'What A Stupid Phone') is a fictionalmobile phone created to publicise the UKChannel 4 sitcomNathan Barley . Advertisements for the Wasp T12 appeared on bus shelters and billboards in February2005 , with only the E4 logo on the number 4 of the keypad, and the presence of the Nathan Barley character from the sitcom, as indicators that it was not in fact a real advertisement. Features of the phone claimed in the advert included full fidelity vox phoning, voice authority enhancement, TV-cast hijack capability, text insult dictionary, foldout MP3 decks and an extra large 5 button. This '
culture jamming ' is typical of the style of Chris Morris, the programme's creator, best known for the satirical documentary seriesBrass Eye .External links
