From his first official appearance he quickly became a fan favorite, as for his dribbling and passing, his powerful shooting abilities. Also as for his skinny appearance he was characterized as the new "Messi".

In January 2009 Lizio was selected to join the Argentina under-20 squad for the 2009 South American Youth Championship in Venezuela.
