Rodolfo Gómez Orozco (born
October 30 ,1950 inMexico City ) is a retiredlong-distance runner, who was one of the leading runners represented fromMexico in the 1970s and 1980s. He won theTokyo Marathon (1981), theAthens Marathon (1982), theRotterdam Marathon (1982), theOregon Marathon (1982), thePittsburgh Marathon (1984) en theMexico City Marathon (1987).Gómez enrolled in the Military School of Physical Education and participated in the curriculum of Specialization in Athletics taught by the
International Olympic Committee . He earned a scholarship to attend theUniversity of Texas inEl Paso , where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education with honors.Gómez represented Mexico at two consecutive
Summer Olympics , starting in 1980. Later on he became an athletics coach, guiding runners likeAndrés Espinosa ,Germán Silva ,Benjamín Paredes ,Adriana Fernández ,Isaac Garcia ,Martín Pitayo , andIsidro Rico .References
