- Ringstead Bay
Ringstead Bay is a small pebble and shingle
beach on theEnglish Channel coast inDorset ,England . The bay hasshingle and somesand , with offshorereef s approximately 600metre s in length at the western end becoming uncovered at lowtide . It forms theintertidal zone between the highcliff s and fields heading northwards and the English Channel to the south.Immediately to the east are the white chalk cliffs of
White Nothe , dominating the bay. The large town ofWeymouth is situated approximately 8 km west of Ringstead Bay. The small village ofOsmington Mills lies on the coast about 1.5 km to the west and there is a footpath along the cliffs, viaBran Point .Ringstead Bay and the small village of Ringstead are accessible by way of a private road. The area is known for its natural beauty and
fossil s. It is possible to walk to the top of White Nothe and back, with spectacular views of the bay and across to theIsle of Portland .See also
