He studied from 1972-1976 at theEscuela Nacional de Bellas Artes “San Alejandro” inHavana and from 1976 to 1981, studied at theInstituto Superior de Arte (ISA), also in Havana. Torres from 1990-1993 resided inMexico City ,Mexico and since 1993 resides inMiami, Florida .Individual Exhibitions
Among his must relevant personal exhibitions we can quote in 1979 "Fumar daña la salud", in the Revista Moncada, in Havana. In 1983 he presented "Cine del hogar", in Galería Habana, in Havana. In 1989 he exhibited "Un cliché es ridículo, cien clichés son patéticos", in the Galería Evasión Arte, in
Sao Paulo ,Brazil . In 1990 he made "La trampa", in the Centro Cultural Ciudad de Buenos Aires, inBuenos Aires ,Argentina . And in 1996 he presented "So Quiet in Here", in El Museo del Barrio, inNew York City .Collective Exhibitions
He was part of many collective exhibitions, among them we can mention in 1982 "Los novísimos cubanos. Grupo Volumen I", in The Signs Gallery, New York. In this year also participated in the XIVème Festival International de la Peinture, in the Château Musée de Cagnes sur Mer, in Cagnes sur Mer,
France . In 1983 he was also included in "Cuban Photography 1959-1982", in the Westbeth Gallery, in New York. In 1984 he participated in the FirstHavana Biennial , in the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Havana. In 1992 he was one of the selected artist to conform "Von dort aus: Kuba", in the Ludwig Forum für Internationale Kunst, in Aachen,Germany . And in 1997 some of his works were selected to conform "Breaking Barriers", Selections from the Museum of Art's Permanent Contemporary Cuban Collection Museum of Art,Fort Lauderdale, Florida .Awards
During his life he had obtained many awards and recognitions, among them we can quote in 1990 the Prize in Curatorship of the International association of Arts Critics (AICA) for "Una Mirada Retrospectiva" exhibited, in Havana. And in 1997 he was awarded with the Visual and Media Fellowship, for the South Florida Cultural Consortium,
