Hamrah Dawm

Ḩamrah Dawm (Hamra Dom, Ḩamrat Dūm) is a small village in Upper Egypt near the city of Qena, about 80 kilometres north-west of Luxor [ [http://gnswww.nga.mil/geonames/Gazetteer/Search/Results.jsp?Feature__Unique_Feature_ID=-295195&Diacritics=Yes&reload=1 Error ] ] . It is located on the west bank of the Nile in the Qena Governorate. It is known for being near the Jabal al-Tarif cliff in which the the Gnostic Gospels of the Nag Hammadi library were found by Mohammed Ali Samman in December 1945 [ [http://www.tertullian.org/rpearse/manuscripts/nag_hammadi.htm The Nag Hammadi discovery of manuscripts ] ] .
