After the defeat of last
Hindu King ofDelhi ,Prithviraj III Chauhan , in theSecond Battle of Tarain in1192 , The Jats in his army moved to the countryside and settled as cultivators at various places inIndia . One such Jat soldier was Thatha ofBhadia clan who founded the village Thathawata. Thathawata is located at 28°5' North, 74°46' East. Route Biramsar on National Highway-11 to Sulkhania village passes through the village.
The natural climatic conditions in the village are very harsh and extreme. The temperature ranges from sub-zero in winters to more than 50°C in summers. The summers bring hot waves of air called "loo". The village lies in the
Thar desert region. Annual rainfall is very low of the scale of 25 cm. Theground water in the village is hard and salty and as deep as 200 feet. The people in the region depend onrainwater harvesting . The rainwater is stored in pucca tanks, known asJohad , which is used through out the year for drinking purposes. On an average the region faces every third year as a dry year and every eighth year as afamine year. During famine years it becomes very difficult for the animals to survive for want offodder and the cattle population goes down drastically.Demographics
As of the census of
2001 , there are 2500 people, of which 1105 are adults. There are 350 families residing in the village. Out of these 175 families are of Bidawat (Rathore )Rajput s, 100 families of Jats and 75 families of othercaste s. The Jat families includeBurdak , Chahar,Jhajharia ,Pachar and Puniaclan s. The othercaste s includeBrahman s,Harijan s,Kumhar s, Nai,Dholi ,Naik andDaroga .The main occupation of the villagers is
agriculture . There are 20 persons serving theIndian Army and same number of retired army personnel. About 50 people have gone toArab countries for earning. There are 7 teachers, one advocate and oneAll India Services class one officer from the village.All people belong to
Hindu religion. There is onetemple ofThakur ji, two temples ofGoddess Mawali and one "than" (a sacred place) ofGogaji .External links
