Polish Resettlement Act 1947

Polish Resettlement Act 1947

Britain's social and economic areas had been hard hit by the Second World War, and to rebuild itself physically and financially it required a workforce to do it quickly and effectively. A problem was the lack of labourers. The Polish Resettlement Act 1947 enabled and encouraged a useful number Fact|date=February 2008 of Poles to emigrate to Britain for work. In terms of migration Push and Pull factors, the Push was the threat of the Soviet Union and the ravaged landscaoe of Poland at the time, and the pull factor was very much this piece of legislation.
