Susan Auch (born
March 1 ,1966 inWinnipeg, Manitoba ) is a Canadian speed-skater and five-time Olympian who trained initially out of Winnipeg, and later inCalgary, Alberta .Auch competed in several
Winter Olympics games, winning the bronze in the 3000 m. relay at the1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, and the silver in the 500 m. events at the1994 Winter Olympics inLillehammer, Norway and the 1998 games atNagano, Japan . In 1999, Auch announced her retirement from competition, but changed her mind and competed in a fifth Winter Olympics, the 2002 games atSalt Lake City , but failed to win a medal; afterwards, she again announced her retirement.The only
long track speed skating oval inWinnipeg has been named after Susan Auch.Inducted into the
Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame and Museum in 2003.Today, Auch works as a
real estate agent in Calgary.References
