The Sassov (also Sassow) Hasidic dynasty began with Rabbi
Moshe Leib Erblich of Sassov (1745-1807), a disciple of RabbiDovber of Mezeritch , the disciple of theBaal Shem Tov , the founder of Hasidism.Sassov was located in Eastern Galicia, now in present day

Monsey, New York , Grand Rabbi Yaakov Tzvi Erblich, who is a son of Grand Rabbi Moshe Yehudah Erblich (d. 1991), Sassover Rebbe, son of Grand Rabbi Yaakov Tzvi Erblich, Porosover Rebbe, son of Grand Rabbi Yekusiel Shmelka Erblich (1800-1861), son of Rebbe Moshe Leib Sassover (1745-1807), founder of the Sassov dynasty.Other Sasover Rebbes
Today there are several Sassover Rebbes, who are not descendants of Rabbi Moshe Leib of Sassov, but are actually part of the Alesk dynasty.
There is a Sassov community based in
Golders Green , in North WestLondon , having moved from the East End of London in1942 . The previous Rebbe, Grand Rabbi Simcha Rubin, diedJune 10 ,2003 at the age of 93. He had served as leader of his community since 1929, on the passing his father Grand Rabbi Henoch Dov Rubin.He was succeeded as rabbi of the synagogue by Rabbi Shlomo Yisrael Freshwater, who did not take on the title of "Sassover Rebbe".
This title was later assumed by Rabbi Rubin's grandson, Rabbi Mordechai Yehuda Rubin, who lives in
Bnei Berak ,Israel .Rabbi Lipa Meir Teitelbaum, was the Sassov-Keretzky Rebbe. He was the son-in-law of Rabbi
Joel Teitelbaum of Satmar. He was succeeded by his two sons: Grand Rabbi Yoseph Dovid Teitelbaum who is the Sassover Rebbe in Kiryat Yismach Moshe inGanei Tikva , in Israel, and a son-in-law of Grand Rabbi David Moshe ofKretchnif . He was a disciple of the previous Klausenberger Rebbe. His brother, Rabbi Chanoch Heynach Teitelbaum is the Sassover Rebbe inMonsey , NY.ee also
