Sir Henry Thompson, 3rd Baronet

The Revd. Sir Henry Thompson, 3rd Baronet Thompson (November 5 1796 - ?1868) was the third son of Sir Charles Thompson, 1st Baronet. He succeeded to the baronetcy after his elder brother the 2nd Baronet died without issue in 1844. On February 26 1826 he married Hannah Jean Grey, third daughter of Sir George Grey, third son of Charles Grey, 1st Earl Grey. However, the baronetcy became extinct on Henry's death in 1868.

Sir Henry and Hannah Jean Grey had one daughter, Hannah Jane Thompson b 1829 who married Henry Thomas Murdoch Kirby, vicar of Mayfield, Sussex. Her mother had died shortly after her birth.In October 1835 Sir Henry married Miss Emily Leeke in Brighton. They had two daughters,Frances Anna (b 1837) and Caroline Eleanor (b 1848), and two sons who died young - Henry Charles (b 1843) and Ralph Harvey (b 1846).

Sir Henry was during his life, Curate in charge at Bembridge Church, Isle of Wight; Rector of the Church of Holy Trinity, Fareham, Hampshire and then in 1845 he was given the living of Frant, Sussex by the Earl of Abergavenny.
