Hatikva (political party)

Hatikva ( _he. התקווה, lit. "The Hope") is a minor political party in Israel. A secular right party, [ [http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?c=JPArticle&cid=1195546683035&pagename=JPost/JPArticle/ShowFull Arye Eldad to head new secular Right party] Jerusalem Post, 20 November 2007] it is headed by Aryeh Eldad, currently a member of the Knesset for Moledet. Eldad has said that the new party is focusing on running for the next Knesset, and may run as part of the National Union (as is the case with Moledet).

Formed in late 2007, it was officially registered on 9 December 2007. Primaries for Hativka's Knesset list will be held three months before the next general election.

Eldad calls Hatikvah a "non-segregated party [Lecture given at the Hillel Jewish University Center of Pittsburgh, 22 September 2008.] ," meaning it aims to draw supporters from both religious and secular elements of Israeli society.
