- Gluconokinase
In
enzymology , a gluconokinase (EC number|2.7.1.12) is anenzyme that catalyzes thechemical reaction :ATP + D-gluconate ADP + 6-phospho-D-gluconate
Thus, the two substrates of this enzyme are ATP and
D-gluconate , whereas its two products are ADP and6-phospho-D-gluconate .This enzyme belongs to the family of
transferase s, specifically those transferring phosphorus-containing groups (phosphotransferase s) with an alcohol group as acceptor. The systematic name of this enzyme class is ATP:D-gluconate 6-phosphotransferase. Other names in common use include gluconokinase (phosphorylating), and gluconate kinase. This enzyme participates inpentose phosphate pathway .tructural studies
As of late 2007, 6 structures have been solved for this class of enzymes, with PDB accession codes PDB link|1KNQ, PDB link|1KO1, PDB link|1KO4, PDB link|1KO5, PDB link|1KO8, and PDB link|1KOF.
